Have you tried Starbucks new Coconut Milk yet?
If you have you need to read this. If not, you’ll want to hold off.
Would you believe if I told you it’s just another sham in the world of food appearances you can’t trust?
It might be okay if this “coconut milk” was just a watered down version of it’s namesake, but that’s far from the truth.
Water, coconut cream, cane sugar, tricalcium phosphate
, coconut water concentrate, natural flavors, sea salt, carrageenan
, gellan gum, corn dextrin, xanthan gum
, guar gum, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin d2.
“Carrageenan predictably causes inflammation
, which can lead to ulcerations and bleeding,” explains veteran carrageenan researcher Joanne Tobacman, MD, associate professor of clinical medicine at the University of Illinois School of Medicine at Chicago.
Now, not everyone can expect stomach ulcers and bleeding, I think that may be a bit extreme, but what I believe is that it will probably cause some nasty gut reactions.
Something I speak with my clients about regularly is not falling for the “no fat, low fat” labels. The reality of these products, like this “Coconut Milk” from Starbucks if they’re packed with chemical based products that cause your gut to inflame.
When your gut is inflamed you feel bloated & low on energy, and when low fat or no fat food and drink are combined with sugar, it results in cravings for more of this crap later in the day.
Leaving you adding more and more liquid calories that aren’t helping you live a healthy more energetic life.
